Get a real phone call for the things you cannot miss

A notification only works if your phone is awake, unlocked and in the room. A phone call does not need any of that. At the reminder time, Timelee's servers dial the number you verified, the way a person would.

The four ways a notification quietly fails

Every one of these is a normal Tuesday, not an edge case. In each of them the app did exactly what it was built to do, and you still missed the thing.

  • It arrived with thirty other things

    Your lock screen at 6pm is a stack. A delivery update, two group chats, a game asking you to come back, and somewhere in there, take the tablet. You clear the stack in one gesture.

  • You dismissed it before you read it

    The swipe is faster than the reading. Anyone who has cleared a notification and then spent ten minutes trying to recall what it said knows the feeling. It was delivered. It was even seen. It still failed.

  • The phone was on silent

    Silenced for the meeting, the ward round, the sleeping baby. The 3pm reminder fired into an empty room, and nothing happens next. There is no retry.

  • The phone was not with you

    Charging in the hall, in a bag, in a locker, on the other side of a building site. A notification fired on a device nobody was holding.

The call comes from outside your phone

An alarm and an in-app call are still your phone talking to you, and your phone has a hundred ways to stay quiet: silent mode, a focus schedule, a battery saver that closed the app, a screen face-down in a bag.

A phone call does not depend on any of that. Timelee's server places a call on the network. It rings when the phone is locked, when Timelee is closed, and loudly enough that you hear it from the next room — including when you are at a laptop and your phone is in a coat.

What the call actually says

The call is not a robot reading a row from a database. You write the words once and every call uses them.

  1. Your pre-text

    Whatever you want said first, so you know immediately why the phone is ringing. Saved once in settings and reused for every call.

  2. The reminder itself

    Timelee says "This is your reminder", then reads the title you gave it. Pick a male or a female voice.

  3. Your post-text

    A closing line of your own. Useful when the call is going to somebody else and needs to explain who sent it.

Timelee can only ring a number that has been verified

Before any number can receive a call, its owner confirms it with a one-time code. That applies to your own number and to anyone else's. Nobody can point an automated call at a stranger, and you can see and remove verified numbers at any time.

Where a phone call sits among the other channels

Nothing escalates by default. You choose, for each of your phone call reminders, how much this one is worth — and the ladder stops the moment you acknowledge it.

    A full-screen alarm at the time you set, with a tone you chose from 33. Right for the bins, the parking meter, the stretch break.

    App Call

    The phone rings full screen, like an incoming call, inside Timelee. You look at a ringing screen before you dismiss it. Marked Recommended in the app.

    Important

    The alarm first. If you do not acknowledge it, the in-app call follows. Two chances, and no call credit spent.

    Phone Call Only

Call credits are bought in the mobile app

Phone-call delivery uses call credits. They are purchased through the Timelee app on Android or iOS, not on the web. Every other delivery channel is part of the free core.

Questions about call delivery

Can Timelee call a number that is not mine?

Yes, but only after the person who owns that number has verified it with a one-time code. This is how carers set up medication calls for a relative, and it is why the feature cannot be pointed at a stranger.

What happens if I do not answer the call?

Nothing further is placed for that reminder. The escalation ladder is the app's answer to silence, not a loop — it runs the rungs you chose, in order, and stops.

Does the call work if my phone has no internet?

Yes. The call travels over the normal phone network rather than over data, which is the reason it reaches you when a push notification would not.

Will it ring during the night?

Only if you scheduled it to. Timelee places the call at the reminder time you set; it does not choose times for you.

Does every reminder use a credit?

No. Only the two channels that place a real phone call, Phone Call Only and Critical, use credits, and Critical only spends one if the earlier rungs went unanswered.
