Use case

The appointment you booked in March and nearly missed in June

The dentist gave you a card with a date on it in March. It is now June, the card is somewhere in a drawer, and the only reason you remembered was a text from the practice the day before, which you nearly deleted along with the marketing ones.

The problem with an appointment is how far out it is booked

The dentist, the GP, the car's MOT, the annual boiler service — none of these are urgent when you book them. That is exactly what makes them easy to lose. A reminder you set three months ahead has to survive three months of your attention being somewhere else entirely, and most reminder systems are not built to hold something quietly for that long.

A single notification on the day is not enough either, because by the day, the plans around it are already set: the school run, the shift, the thing that was already in the diary before the appointment reappeared. You need warning early enough to move things, and then a second nudge close enough that you actually leave the house.

Timelee handles both parts: a reminder that can wait months without being forgotten, and a pre-alarm stack that gives you time to prepare instead of just time to notice.

Three ways a booked appointment slips

None of these need to be dramatic to cost you the slot and the fee.

  • It was booked before it felt real

A date three months out does not compete for attention against anything urgent this week, so it loses every time until it suddenly is this week.

  • The confirmation email got buried

It arrived once, went into an inbox with a thousand other things, and was never looked at again until the appointment had already passed.

  • You remembered the day, not the morning

You knew it was today. You did not build in the twenty minutes of travel time, because nothing reminded you early enough to plan around it.

Setting an appointment up properly, once

Do this the day you book it, not the week before.

  1. Set the reminder for the actual appointment time

Not a round number you will second-guess later. The exact time on the card or the confirmation.

  2. Add a pre-alarm a day out and one on the morning

One the day before, so you can still rearrange anything that clashes, and one an hour or two ahead, so you have time to leave.

  3. File it under a category you actually check

Health, Home or a category of your own, so it shows up when you filter rather than getting lost in a general list.

  4. Attach the detail you always have to look up

The clinic's address, the reference number, what to bring. Put it in the note, so it is there when you need it and not in an email you have to search for.

What this is built from

Three features doing the actual work.

  • Pre-alarms

A separate ring hours or days ahead of the appointment, stacked so you get an early warning and a late one.

  • Yearly repeats

For the annual dental check-up or the yearly car service, set it once and it comes back every year on its own.

  • Google Calendar

See your booked appointments next to your other events. It's a read: Timelee does not write anything back to your calendar.

Set it up on a laptop, it rings on your phone

Booking an appointment usually happens at a desk, while you're on a call or filling in a form. Build the reminder on the web dashboard — the time, the pre-alarms, the note — and it rings on the phone you will actually have with you on the day.

Questions about appointment reminders

Can I set more than one warning before an appointment?

Yes. Pre-alarm gives you a separate ring before the real one, with offsets from five minutes to five hours, and you can stack more than one on the same reminder.

Will a reminder set months in advance still fire correctly?

Yes. There is no limit on how far ahead you can set a reminder, and it is scheduled the same way whether it is due tomorrow or in six months.

Can I see the appointment next to what's already in my calendar?

If your calendar is in Google Calendar, connect your Google account and those events appear next to your Timelee reminders. It is a read-only view; Timelee does not write anything back to your calendar.

What if the appointment moves?

Edit the reminder and it reschedules everything attached to it, including the pre-alarms, from the new time.
