Compare
Timelee and Alarmy, side by side
These two get compared because both are loud, and that is where the similarity ends. One is built for the ten minutes after you wake up. The other is built for the other sixteen hours.

What Alarmy is genuinely good at
Alarmy is an alarm clock, and it is built for one very specific, very hard problem: getting a person who does not want to get up out of bed anyway. That is a behavioural problem, not a scheduling one. The people who struggle with it are not forgetting the alarm — they are switching it off while half asleep and remembering none of it.
Wake-up apps in this category attack that by putting something between you and the off button, so that dismissing the alarm requires being awake enough to complete a small task. That design idea genuinely works for a lot of people, and Timelee does nothing of the kind. If your difficulty is the morning, an app built for the morning is the right answer and this comparison should end here.
It is also a mature app in its category with a free version, so it costs very little to find out whether it suits you.
Four problems people bring to an alarm app
Only two of these are wake-up problems. Knowing which one you have saves you installing the wrong thing.
You switch the alarm off in your sleep
You have no memory of dismissing it. This is a wake-up problem, and it needs an alarm clock designed to make dismissal difficult. Timelee is not that.
You snooze six times and lose an hour
Also a wake-up problem, but a slightly different one. What helps is limiting how easy snoozing is, whichever app you use.
You miss things during the day, not the morning
The 3pm call, the 6pm dose, the form due on Friday. An alarm clock is not built to carry a schedule of those, and a notification is not loud enough to catch them.
You were not holding the phone at all
It was charging in the hall, silenced for a meeting, at the bottom of a bag. No alarm on that device could have reached you, however clever its off button is.
The two, dimension by dimension
| Dimension | Timelee | Alarmy |
|---|---|---|
| The job it is built for | Reminders across a whole day, delivered on a channel you choose per item. | Waking a person up, which is a behavioural problem in its own right. |
| The wake-up problem | No answer to it beyond a loud alarm and a snooze setting you can turn off. | The entire point of the product, and a real reason to choose it. |
| How an alert arrives | A full-screen alarm, a ringing call inside the app, or a real phone call to a verified number placed from Timelee's servers. | A loud alarm on the device, designed to be hard to dismiss while half asleep. |
| Reaching you away from the phone | A phone call arrives on the network, so it works with the phone locked, the app closed, or you in another room. | Device-based, as an alarm clock is. |
| Carrying a schedule | Fourteen reminder kinds, repeats with per-day toggles, priorities, categories, tags and shared reminders. | Alarms and wake-up routines, kept focused. |
| Waking somebody else | A phone call can be pointed at another person's verified number, with nothing installed at their end. | An alarm on the sleeper's own device. |
| Cost model | Free core. Real phone calls use credits, bought in the Android or iOS app. | A free version with a paid tier above it. Check the vendor for current terms. |
These are different categories of product and both change often. This is a general, category-level comparison written at the time of publication, not an audit of anyone's feature list. Check Alarmy's own site for what it does today before you decide.
How loud a Timelee reminder is allowed to be
Timelee's alarm behaves like an alarm rather than a notification — full screen, with a tone chosen from 33 in six groups. Above it sit two channels an alarm clock does not have.
- notif_type 1
Regular
A full-screen alarm at the time you set. Right for a stretch break, the bins, or a wake-up you will actually hear.
- notif_type 2
App Call
The phone rings full screen, like an incoming call, inside Timelee. Marked Recommended in the app, and free.
- notif_type 3Recommended
Important
The alarm first. If you do not acknowledge it, the in-app call follows. Two chances, no credits spent.
- notif_type 4Premium · uses credits
Phone Call Only
A real phone call placed by Timelee's servers to a verified number, on the phone network rather than as a push.
- notif_type 5Premium · uses credits
Critical
Alarm, then in-app call, then a phone call 10 min later if missed. The escalation only happens if the earlier rungs went unanswered.
Pick Alarmy if most of these are true
- Your problem starts and ends in the morning
- You dismiss alarms without remembering doing it, and need dismissal to be genuinely difficult
- You want a wake-up routine rather than a schedule of reminders
- Your daytime reminders already reach you fine
- You would rather have one app that does the hard bit well than a general tool
Timelee is not a wake-up app
There is no puzzle, no task and no photo mission between you and the off button. Snooze can be set per reminder and one of the options is Off, and Pinch Me will bring a reminder back on an interval until you mark it done — but if you routinely switch alarms off in your sleep, a dedicated wake-up app is a better answer than any of that. Plenty of people run one for the morning and Timelee for the rest of the day.
Common questions
Can Timelee wake me up in the morning?
Yes. An alarm reminder is a real full-screen alarm with a tone you choose, and it can repeat on the days you pick. What it does not do is make dismissing it difficult, which is the specific thing a wake-up app is built for.
Will a Timelee alarm ring through silent mode?
An alarm behaves like an alarm rather than a notification, and a real phone call arrives on the phone network. How your handset treats silent and focus modes depends on your own settings, so test it once with a reminder set two minutes ahead.
Can Timelee stop me snoozing?
Snooze is configured per reminder, and one of the options is Off. You can also set Pinch Me so the reminder keeps returning on an interval until you mark it done. Every Minute and Every Day run until it is done; other intervals stop after six repeats.
Can Timelee wake up somebody else?
It can call them. A phone call reminder rings a number the owner has verified with a one-time code, and nothing needs to be installed at their end. This is how people handle an early shift for a relative who does not use apps.
Do I have to pay for a loud alarm?
No. Alarms, in-app calls, repeats, pre-alarms and Pinch Me are all part of the free core. Only a real phone call uses credits, because a carrier is paid for each one.
If the morning is handled, look at the rest of the day
Set one afternoon reminder to a channel that does not depend on you seeing a screen, and see what changes.
